Many appraisees do a lot of CPD but struggle to generate the right sort of records for appraisal (reflective diary) and have similar difficulties in recording PUNS and DENS. I have designed a booklet to keep by your desk at work which is aimed at making this process easier. It may become available through the nelg appraisals page or you can email me for a copy.
Please remember that it is you may be removed from your performers lost if you do not undergo an appraisal without requesting a exemption or deferrment.
For more information on appraisal visit the nelg appraisals page or the appraisal page on the Northern deanery website

Funding arrangements for the retainer scheme remain unchanged : for more information please look at the retainer scheme page of the northern deanery. There is currently no database of “interested” practices as our experience was that practices who signed up for this had not thought through the detail of the scheme. The best way to find a post is to approach practices informally.
Funding for new FCS posts and extensions for FCS posts has ceased- existing posts will run through to their agreed end point.

If you have had a career break of 2 years or more and are no longer on a performers list you may have difficult rejoining a list. PCTs will generally consult with the deanery in these cases requesting advice about what retraining is needed. This will be depend on a number of factors for example the nature of work the doctor has been carrying out during their break from clinical practice. Some of these doctors may be required to undergo formal “returner scheme” placements which may involve entry and exit assessments. For specific advise doctors are advised to contact
Dr Jamie Harrison zk62@dial.pipex.com
Or Dr Fiona Galloway galloway1@btinternet.com (Cumbria only)
