Required checks to do on Locum GPs who work for you
It is the responsibility of practices to check:
- GMC registration, (GMC and JCPTGP certificates are ONLY checked at the time of joining NELG)
- medico-legal indemnity (e.g. MDU MPS MDDUS)
- membership of performers list (once on a list a locum can do GP locums in ANY PCT area)
- JCPTGP or PMETB certificate or equivalent
- references
- competence relevant for the post (e.g. knowledge of experience of clinical computer systems e.g. EMIS, MEDITEL)
It is good practice to confirm the booking in writing.
